Childbirth Education Classes help to educate and prepare parents for what to expect during childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care. Classes are held at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and are taught by maternity nurses. Each class focuses on a different topic such as the stages of labor and breastfeeding.
Cost for the 4 week series is $40 or $10 for each class attended. Classes meet in the ICU Waiting Room located on the 2nd floor of the Hospital on Wednesdays 6pm – 8pm. An RN for 10 years, childbirth educator for 7 years, and mother and baby yoga instructor for 2.5 years, Melissa first began supporting women during birth in the 1990s while obtaining her Sociology and Women’s Studies BA in North Carolina. She went on to complete nursing school in Oregon and moved to Martha's Vineyard in 2007.
